Week 10--Due 10/9

Hello Everyone,

This Friday we reviewed (and learned!) some new terms associated with Islam. We also talked about our Middle East presentations which will take place in teams of two on 10/18. Below are the teams and topics in no particular order:

Middle East Duo Presentations

Caroline & Mia--Middle Eastern food culture
Rose & Sophia--Tour Guide to Turkey (Istanbul, Cappadocia, Pamukkale, etc)
Lila & Annaliese--Middle Eastern visual arts--calligraphy, kaat'i, mosaics
Caleb & David--Traditional Middle Eastern Sports (Turkish oil wrestling, camel racing, Buzkashi)
Josh & Ivey--Middle Eastern textiles, architecture, furniture
Millie & Willa--superstitions, Sufism/mysticism, whirling dervish

Note:  if you begin talking and researching and decide you need to shift your direction a bit, that's okay too, just let me know.  Here are the parameters from class:

And the board from class with our list of possible topics:

By next class (10/9), your group should send me an email with the following :

1) a video link or two (no more than 10 minutes total) related to your topic.  Be picky--find one that's quality and educational.
2) a website link you'd like your classmates to read/explore related to your topic.
3) five questions that your classmates will answer related to the two items above to keep them accountable and make them think.

You can also check out Makkah (Mecca) live HD here.

Middle East Map & Islamic Terms Quiz

Also, next class we will have a Map/Islamic terms quiz on the Middle East region. Here is a study guide with what you'll need to review/know. Some but not all of these items will be on your quiz.
